5-String short-scale bass anyone!?
“Yes please!”, I hear a lot of you say. 🙂 Well it’s going to become a reality. Right now my friend Derren Lee Poole and I are working on the plans for the SWB-1 Standard 5. All the same options as the four-string will be avaialble (ash/mahogany; active/passive; fretted/fretless; left/right-handed).
Stay tuned…
Still staying tuned…..
I’m very interested in a short fiver. I play a Fender Modern Player Jazz short scale and looking for a 5 string only throws up an Ibanez AGB205 semi, a Warwick Rockbass medium scale or something well over £1000 by Birdsong or ACG. Will be watching this space.
Hi Scott.
Do you have a rough idea of the timescale for this development?
I bought a cheap and cheerful Chinese made short-scale last year on returning to bass playing after a break of decades. Unsurprisingly given my diminutive stature, I find the short-scale suits me very well. Although the bass is much better than I expected for the price, it has its limitations and I’m looking for an upgrade.
I was all set to contact you at the beginning of the year, but then saw this blog post and was fascinated by the thought of a shorty 5 string. I’d assumed string tension issues would rule out that combination.
How long before I can find out?
